MARCH, 2011 NEWS

My year-long residency at the Badè Archaeology Collection at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley will culminate with an exhibition that opens Thursday, March 31st, with a reception from 5-7 pm. The exhibition includes twenty-some photomontages I created from images I scanned of the collection's artifacts and documentation. The collection was assembled by William F. Badè in the 1920s when he excavated at Tell en-Nasbeh in Israel. It contains artifacts from as far back as 27 centuries. More.

In addition to this exhibition, a work of mine will be included in the California Society of Printmakers' exhibition at the Berkeley Art Center, titled Light/Dark, juried by Enrique Chagoya. This exhibition runs from April 2-Mar 29, 2011, and has an opening reception on April 2, from 5-7pm at the Berkeley Art Center, 1275 Walnut Street, Berkeley. More. ..............................................................................................

Residency

"Mining the Collection"
Badé Museum of Biblical Archaeology
Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA
Exhibition: Spring 2011

I have been selected as the second artist to be given full access to the collection at the Badé Archaeology Museum in Berkeley.  After a year of mining the collection and gathering inspiration from these ancient objects (1200 BC) and their 1920s documentation, I will be creating an exhibition which will be shown in the Doug Adams Gallery, across from the objects that inspired the work.  This is a rare and exciting opportunity, one that brings back all my favorite memories of plumbing museum collections in graduate school.  I intend to blog about my progress at:
